John 14:15-17,26; 16:13-15; Galatians 5:22-25 Today we will continue our study on the Apostles’ Creed. The section of the creed we will look at today, that our scripture affirms, is “I believe in the Holy Ghost.” Jesus sent the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit to be with his followers. Right now Jesus sits on the right hand of God the Father, but the Holy Spirit lives with everyone that has accepted Jesus as their Lord and savior and repented of their sins. The Holy Spirit taught the first disciples and followers of Jesus and the Holy Spirit is still teaching us today. We can be certain what the Holy Spirit is teaching us is good based on two facts. The Holy Spirit will guide us into the truth and what he has received from Jesus he will make known to us. We can test different spirits by the Holy Spirit because the Holy Spirit always tells the truth and agrees with Jesus. With so many people today lying and confused about what is truth, we need to be intentional when it comes to listening to the Holy Spirit and knowing what Jesus taught so we will not be deceived. How important is the truth to you? How much time do you spend listening to the Holy Spirit? How much time do you spend learning what Jesus taught? Please read the following for next week: John 10:14-16; 17:20-26; Ephesians 3:2-6; 4:1-6

Luke 24:50-53; Matthew 25:31-46; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Revelation 20:11-15 Today we will continue our study on the Apostles’ Creed. The section of the creed we will look at today, that our scripture affirms, is “ascended into Heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.” Jesus left the disciples to sit at the right hand of God the Father. One day Jesus will return. There will be a day that Jesus is going to judge everyone. He will reward those that followed him and were obedient to him. He will punish those that did not follow him and whose sins earn them death. When a person believes in Jesus Christ and follows him, their sins are forgiven. They will face the consequences of those sins, but they will not face God’s wrath for their sins in the lake of fire. The second death is eternal separation from God in the lake of fire. How often do you pray to Jesus, who sits high and looks low? What are your feelings and thoughts about judgment day? How would you be judged by Jesus if today was the day of judgment? Please read the following for next week: John 14:15-17,26; 16:13-15; Galatians 5:22-25 Matthew 28:1-10 Today we will continue our study on the Apostles’ Creed. The section of the creed we will look at today, that our scripture affirms, is “on the third day He rose from the dead.” This section of the creed is very important. There are a lot of religions and belief systems in the world. The Christian faith is founded on the fact that Jesus died for our sins and rose from the dead on the third day. We have hope because God the Father gave Jesus the authority to lay down his life and then take it back up. Since God the Father did that for Jesus, we can believe he will raise up those of us that believe in his son Jesus. How has Jesus rising from the dead impacted your life? Please read the following for next week: Luke 24:50-53; Matthew 25:31-46; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Revelation 20:11-15 John 19:16-35 Today we will continue our study on the Apostles’ Creed. The section of the creed we will look at today, that our scripture affirms, is “was crucified, dead and buried.” Jesus told his disciples ahead of time that he would be crucified and die. John was an eyewitness that saw Jesus crucified. He was near the cross standing by the mother of Jesus. John wrote in verse thirty-five that he gave his testimony about the crucifixion and death of Jesus so we would believe. We can have our sins forgiven because Jesus died on the cross. We do not have to face God’s wrath against sin because Jesus died on the cross. Verses thirty-eight through forty-two in chapter nineteen tell how Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus buried Jesus in a borrowed tomb. What is a testimony you have about Jesus doing what he said he would do? When did you share your testimony with someone? What thoughts or emotions do you have knowing that Jesus died so your sins could be forgiven? Please read the following for next week: Matthew 28:1-10 |
