In chapter twelve, the Apostle Paul wrote about the different parts of the body having a specific function or ability. In chapter thirteen, he wrote about love being the most important thing a person can have. Love is supposed to work with whatever a person does in the body of Christ. In verse eight he wrote, “Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.” The Apostle Paul described life on this earth as a believer like being a child and life with Jesus in the new heaven and earth like being an adult. We don’t know everything right now and we do things now based on limited knowledge. Once we are united with Jesus our knowledge will be complete and we will be also. Verse thirteen is a reminder that, “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” How do you love others? What can you do to make sure love is part of what you do as a believer? How does faith, hope and love work together? |
