Matthew 26:27-28; 1 Corinthians 15:16-23; John 10: 27-28; 17:1-3 Today we will conclude our study on the Apostles’ Creed. The section of the creed we will look at today, that our scripture affirms, is “the forgiveness of sins, the Resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Amen.” We believe the statements in the Apostles’ Creed, because there are numerous scriptures that back those statements up. All those scriptures were not listed during this study, but in our personal time reading God’s word, we can definitely highlight or note different scriptures that affirm those statements. It’s important to look in God’s word to see what God says. There is forgiveness of sins through the death of Jesus on the cross. Death is not the end of our story through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Everlasting life is given by Jesus to those that follow him. Knowing God the Father and Jesus Christ is eternal life because they are the source of life. How often do you check what you believe with scripture? How many scriptures are your go to scriptures that affirm what you believe? How would you summarize what you believe if someone asked you? Please read the following for next week: Colossians 1

John 10:14-16; 17:20-26; Ephesians 3:2-6; 4:1-6 Today we will continue our study on the Apostles’ Creed. The section of the creed we will look at today, that our scripture affirms, is “the Holy Catholic Church, communion of the saints.” There is one church today just like Jesus said there is one flock and Paul said there is one body. All that believe in Jesus and follow him are part of the Holy Catholic Church. Jesus prayed that we would be united. We fellowship at different times and in different locations, but we are still united in our faith in Jesus. How does being part of the Holy Catholic Church make you feel? How often do you fellowship with other followers of Jesus? How often do you pray like Jesus prayed for unity among believers? Please read the following for next week: Matthew 26:27-28; 1 Corinthians 15:16-23; John 10: 27-28; 17:1-3 John 14:15-17,26; 16:13-15; Galatians 5:22-25 Today we will continue our study on the Apostles’ Creed. The section of the creed we will look at today, that our scripture affirms, is “I believe in the Holy Ghost.” Jesus sent the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit to be with his followers. Right now Jesus sits on the right hand of God the Father, but the Holy Spirit lives with everyone that has accepted Jesus as their Lord and savior and repented of their sins. The Holy Spirit taught the first disciples and followers of Jesus and the Holy Spirit is still teaching us today. We can be certain what the Holy Spirit is teaching us is good based on two facts. The Holy Spirit will guide us into the truth and what he has received from Jesus he will make known to us. We can test different spirits by the Holy Spirit because the Holy Spirit always tells the truth and agrees with Jesus. With so many people today lying and confused about what is truth, we need to be intentional when it comes to listening to the Holy Spirit and knowing what Jesus taught so we will not be deceived. How important is the truth to you? How much time do you spend listening to the Holy Spirit? How much time do you spend learning what Jesus taught? Please read the following for next week: John 10:14-16; 17:20-26; Ephesians 3:2-6; 4:1-6 Luke 24:50-53; Matthew 25:31-46; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Revelation 20:11-15 Today we will continue our study on the Apostles’ Creed. The section of the creed we will look at today, that our scripture affirms, is “ascended into Heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.” Jesus left the disciples to sit at the right hand of God the Father. One day Jesus will return. There will be a day that Jesus is going to judge everyone. He will reward those that followed him and were obedient to him. He will punish those that did not follow him and whose sins earn them death. When a person believes in Jesus Christ and follows him, their sins are forgiven. They will face the consequences of those sins, but they will not face God’s wrath for their sins in the lake of fire. The second death is eternal separation from God in the lake of fire. How often do you pray to Jesus, who sits high and looks low? What are your feelings and thoughts about judgment day? How would you be judged by Jesus if today was the day of judgment? Please read the following for next week: John 14:15-17,26; 16:13-15; Galatians 5:22-25 |
