Today we will finish the book of Proverbs with chapters thirty and thirty-one. Chapter thirty are sayings from Agur while chapter thirty-one are sayings from King Lemuel. I will highlight two verses from each chapter. Proverbs is one of the wisdom books in the Bible. From time to time look back at the verses you have highlighted to see if they have helped you or someone you know. 30:5 – “Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.” 30:6 – “Do not add to his words, or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar.” 31:30 – “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” 31:31 – “Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” What verses did you highlight from the two chapters? What has God said in his word that has helped you this week so far? How important is getting wisdom from God to you after reading Proverbs? Please read the following for next week: Luke 2:1-7

Today we will finish the proverbs from King Solomon with chapters twenty-six through twenty-nine. I will highlight eight verses from these chapters. Remember to prayerfully consider which verses you should highlight and apply in your daily life. 26:11 – “As a dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his folly.” 26:27 – “If a man digs a pit, he will fall into it; if a man rolls a stone, it will roll back on him.” 27:1 – “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.” 27:19 – “As water reflects a face, so a man’s heart reflects the man.” 28:14 – “Blessed is the man who always fears the Lord, but he who hardens his heart falls into trouble.” 28:18 – “He whose walk is blameless is kept safe, but he whose ways are perverse will suddenly fall.” 29:25 – “Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.” 29:26 – “Many seek an audience with a ruler, but it is from the Lord that man gets justice.” What verses did you highlight from chapters twenty-six through twenty-nine? How familiar were you with some of the verses in these chapters before this lesson? Which proverbs of King Solomon stood out the most to you? Please read the following for next week: Proverbs 30-31 For today’s lesson I will again highlight ten verses. The ten highlighted verses will come from chapters twenty-one through twenty-five. Take note that starting with chapter twenty-two verse seventeen and going through chapter twenty-four we shift from proverbs from King Solomon to sayings of the wise. Chapter twenty-five continues proverbs from King Solomon. Prayerfully consider which verses you should highlight and apply in your daily life. Also, consider how the sayings of the wise are similar to or different from the proverbs from King Solomon. 21:2 – “All a man’s ways seem right to him, but the Lord weighs the heart.” 21:30 – “There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord.” 22:4 – “Humility and the fear of the Lord bring wealth and honor and life.” 22:6 – “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” 23:17 – “Do not let your heart envy sinners, but always be zealous for the fear of the Lord.” 23:18 – “There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.” 24:10 – “If you falter in times of trouble, how small s your strength!” 24:26 – “An honest answer is like a kiss on the lips.” 25:21 – “If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink.” 25:22 – “In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head, and the Lord will reward you.” What verses did you highlight from chapters twenty-one through twenty-five? How were the sayings of the wise like the proverbs from King Solomon? How were the sayings of the wise unlike the proverbs from King Solomon? Please read the following for next week: Proverbs 26-29 For today’s lesson I will highlight ten verses from chapters sixteen through twenty. There are a few verses in these chapters that repeat the same message. Remember to prayerfully consider what verses you need to highlight and apply in your daily life. 16:2 – “All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord.” 16:25 – “There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.” 17:13 – “Evil will never leave the house of one who pays back evil for good.” 17:22 – “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” 18:14 – “The human spirit can endure in sickness, but a crushed spirit who can bear?” 18:21 – “The life has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” 19:8 – “The one who gets wisdom loves life; the one who cherishes understanding will soon prosper.” 19:21 – “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” 20:3 – “It is to one’s honor to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel.” 20:22 – “Do not say, “I’ll pay you back for this wrong!” Wait for the Lord, and he will avenge you.” What verses did you highlight from chapters sixteen through twenty?
