Chapter four is the last chapter in the book of Jonah. In it we read a conversation between Jonah and God after God shows Nineveh compassion. I can say that I have felt and thought like Jonah did in verses one, three, and eight at different times in my life. Thankfully, God showed me compassion and taught me important lessons each time. Like he did for Jonah in this chapter, God has taught me the right perspective to have about life. God ultimately gives life and takes it. We, his creation, are made to fulfill a purpose. I can not tell God how to treat one of his creations. Nor can I tell him who he can show compassion to and who he cannot. I must know my place and realize that God loves all mankind. He does not want anyone to perish. He is happy when people repent of their sins and turn to him.
Have you ever felt like Jonah did about the Ninevites? How do you feel when God shows people compassion that you do not like? How do you feel about God loving your enemies? Has God taught you about the right perspective to have? Have you shared the right perspective to have with someone recently?
