Today we will finish our review of all we covered in the four gospels from June until two weeks ago. We looked at some of what Jesus Christ said in: Matthew 4, 5, 6, 7; Mark 4, 9, 10, 11; Luke 4, 13, 14, 17; John 3, 5, 6, 15. We need to pray and ask the Holy Spirit to help us remember and understand what Jesus said. Our review will look at Luke and John today. What was Jesus anointed to do? Where was Jesus when the crowd wanted to throw him down a cliff? What seed did Jesus say the kingdom of God is like? What will people do that are thrown out of the kingdom of God? What did Jesus say will happen to people that exalt themselves? What does a person have to give up, to be a disciple of Jesus? Where is the kingdom of God located? What did Jesus compare the days of Noah and Lot to? Why does a person need to be born again? Who does Jesus say will enter into the light? What is God’s will? What is Jesus going to do for his believers on the last day? How do we remain in the love of Jesus? How do we become a friend of Jesus? Please read the following for next week: Proverbs 1

Today we will start our review of all we covered in the four gospels from June until last week. Our review will look at Matthew and Mark today and we will finish next week, Lord willing, with Luke and John. What helped Jesus when he was in the wilderness and tempted by Satan? What is key to the ministry Jesus started on earth? What kind of people did Jesus refer to as being blessed? What did Jesus tell us to do to our enemies? What did Jesus say we should do in secret so God can reward us? What did Jesus say about serving two masters? What are three ways to receive good gifts from God the Father? What is the benefit of listening to and practicing the words of Jesus? What challenges can prevent a person from producing a crop? What do people use a lamp for and how do they use it? What enabled Jesus to drive the evil spirit from the young boy? What did Jesus say about things that cause us to sin? What did Jesus say is possible with God? What did Jesus come to earth to do? What are we supposed to do when we pray? What are we supposed to do if we hold something against someone? Next week will finish our review of all we covered in the four gospels. John 15 Today we will finish our study on the words of Jesus Christ in the gospel according to John. We are looking at some of the things Jesus said in chapter fifteen. In verse ten Jesus said, “If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.” We need to remember and share with others that loving Jesus is more than a feeling. Loving Jesus is more than attendance at worship services on Sundays or Bible studies on a specific day of the week. Loving Jesus may not be popular with the “right” people. To remain in the love of Jesus, we must obey what he commanded his disciples to do. Jesus clarified one of the things he commanded in verse twelve. Jesus said, “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.” Jesus showed his love for us when he laid his life down for us. He died so we could live. The love Jesus has for us and has showed us is sacrificial. Sacrificial love is the kind of love Jesus has commanded us to show each other. In verses eighteen through twenty-five, Jesus talked about the world hating his disciples. Jesus plainly said the world hated him first and will hate his disciples because his disciples do not belong to the world. We are called out of the world to follow Jesus. We live in the world, but we obey Jesus. How do you define love? How has Jesus shown you love this week? How have you shown others love this week? Next week will be a review of all we covered in the four gospels. John 6 We will continue our study of the words of Jesus Christ today. We are looking at some of the things he said in chapter six of the gospel according to John. In verse twenty-seven, Jesus told the people in Capernaum to work for food that endures to eternal life. This was after he fed over five thousand people with only five small barley loaves and two small fish. The focus of the people was on the physical food they ate, but Jesus wanted them to focus on the spiritual food he could give them that would endure to eternal life. The people asked an important question in verse twenty-eight, “What must we do to do the works God requires?” Jesus answered them in verse twenty-nine, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.” The main thing, in life as we know it here on this earth, is to believe in the one God has sent, Jesus Christ. All the works we do with the life we have should compliment our belief in Jesus Christ. Jesus is the only one that God has placed his seal of approval on. Jesus said he will give us food that endures to eternal life. In verse thirty-five Jesus said, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.” We must understand that Jesus used the words food and bread to help us understand what he offers us. Jesus offers us what we need to live here, right now, and what we need to have eternal life. If a person does not eat food, they will eventually die. The people in Capernaum remembered that when the children of Israel complained about having no food to eat and that they would die, God provided them bread from heaven. Jesus wanted them to understand and he wants us to understand that he has come from heaven to provide us with what we need to live and have eternal life. What do you eat daily or in a given week? How often do you consume the words of Jesus? How well do your works line up with the work of God? Please read the following for next week: John 15 |
